From Mobile App to Tabletop Game.

In February 2025, during a relaxed family board game night filled with laughter and friendly competition, Michael had an unexpected spark of inspiration.

As the dice rolled across the table, a thought hit him: What if the excitement of the Hooked on Sport Fishing Gaming App could be reimagined as a Tabletop Board Game?

A game that combined strategy, chance, and the thrill of saltwater sport fishing one that families and friends could enjoy together, no screens or Wi-Fi required.

That same evening, Michael sat down and began sketching the very first concept for what would become the Hooked on Sport Fishing Board Game.

What started as a simple idea quickly grew into something new: a physical game that could bring people together around a table, just like the original app had done on mobile devices.

The Board Game Vision.

Michael’s early concept featured a Quad-Fold Gaming Board, opening to 18” × 18”, designed to feel both strategic and immersive.

Board Layout Includes:

• 1 Start / Finish Square

• 18 Movement Squares, selected at random during gameplay

• A Central Zone featuring six fishing locations

Each fishing location is paired with its own 43-card deck, representing different saltwater fishing experiences big catches, surprises, bonuses, and challenges.

Core Mechanics & Components.

In Hooked on Sport Fishing Board Game, players compete to catch the most impressive fish and score the highest number of points over two full laps around the board.

Inspired by the original mobile game, the board game blends:

• Strategy

• Luck

• Risk and reward

• Unexpected fishing mishaps

With 11 unique fish species, varied movement outcomes, and dynamic card effects, no two games play the same.

Card Types & Deck Composition.

(Per Fishing Location – 43 Cards Total)

Each location deck contains four core card categories:

Fish Cards (33 Cards Per Deck)

• Represent 11 unique fish species

• Each species appears in small, medium, and large weight classes

• Weights range from 1 to 200 pounds

• Heavier, rarer fish earn higher point values but are harder to catch

 Movement Cards (4 Cards Per Deck)

• 2 Cards: Move ±3 Spaces

• 2 Cards: Move ±6 Spaces

These cards can reposition players for better opportunities or throw them off course.
Each movement card adjusts a player’s score by ±5–10 points, depending on the outcome.

Setback Cards (4 Cards Per Deck)

Fishing doesn’t always go as planned:

• Hooked Some Trash

• Snap Your Fishing Line

• Lost Your Fish

• Lose Your Next Turn

Each setback reflects real fishing mishaps and deducts 5–10 points from a player’s score.

Bonus Cards (2 Cards Per Deck)

• Take an Extra Turn – Gain an immediate extra turn and +10 points

• Caught a Lost Fishing Rod & Reel – A rare find worth +50 points

Gameplay Overview

• Players roll one die to determine movement

• After landing on a fishing location, the player draws one card from that location’s deck

• Cards may award fish, bonuses, extra movement, or setbacks

• After completing two full laps, all players total their points

• The player with the highest score wins

Strategy and luck combine in every cast plan your movement carefully, chase big fish, and prepare for the unexpected.

Winning the Game!

Completing two full laps around the board signals the end of the game but finishing first doesn’t guarantee victory.

The true objective is to accumulate the highest point total through:

• Catching larger fish

• Landing rare bonus cards

• Avoiding costly setbacks

A player who finishes their laps and out-scores the competition emerges as the true champion of the sea.
